The Sughero Farm Holidays and its Travellers
We choose the name Casale Il Sughero country house because it hosts the precious cork trees and the cork itself is a metaphor of a Mediterranean porosity between land and sea.
Iit is an osmotic membrane which exchanges emotions and knowledge shared between who stays and lives in a place and the traveller who wants to know traditions and culture of the territory and men he meets during his walks.
Welcome of Quality
hosts will be people who want to appreciate the artistic and cultural beauties, discover the agricultural and mountain hinterland, be part of our cultural activities and admire the coast and the wonderful Magno-Greek sea which embraces us.
We hope our travellers respect themselves, animals and plants, local traditions and biodiversity, and take care of water and energy saving, given that our country house works with renewable and easy exhaustible sources. If we use the sources properly we will be able to have a zero-impact on the environment, so together we will get a real sustainable and responsible tourism respectful towards environment, cultures and local identities and giving o the opportunity to meet the diversity to own journey, starting from oneself.
Welcoming and Accommodation
Whoever comes and stays with us has the opportunity to share our life-style, times and habits. For this reason we have dedicated an area of our house to host people according to a real rural hospitality.
From your rooms in bed and breakfast, if you see the sea and its horizon till the Aeolian Isles and the Etna when the sky is clear, meanwhile your stay will be sustainable because we have source water, solar panel for hot water, a thermo-fireplace, a system of phytodepuration of sewage, a system plant and household appliances at low - consume.
You will stay in a healthy home because we reduce plastics and waste, walls are in hydraulic lime, wooden frames and furniture are traditional and try to eliminate unlikeable and harmful materials.
Moreover, in the toilets you will find soaps made here by us using only natural ingredients with flavours of herbs and flowers we pick during our walks in the woods and in the fields.
Water comes from the source, so it isn,t chlorate and its macrobiologic healthiness is based on a system of mechanical and physical filters which guarantee lightness and perfect integrity.
Organic Breakfast: traditional, gluten-free and vegan
In the morning you can taste local specialities consisting in organic products from our lands. In particular, we care gluten-free diets for coeliac people and whoever suffers from any food intolerance (we are present on the italian website for celiac).
Breakfast, offered in front of the fireplace in winter and in front of the sea in the terrace in summer, will be Mediterranean (or continental on request).
In other words we will offer Mediterranean millefiori (thousand flowers), heather and arbutus honey of Cilento National Park; jams and marmalades of ancient fruits of Cilento; local fresh milk, ricotta and butter, fresh and seasoned goat cheese; Cilentan coffee toasted as in the past, herbal teas, home-made bread; cakes, biscuits and ‘frese’ (rock-hard breads) of wholemeal flour of ancient organic grains of the Southern Italy with low-gluten ('Carosella','Senatore Cappelli', 'Verna', 'Timilia', 'Maiorca', 'Strazzavisazz' flours) baked in our traditional eco wood-oven with natural yeast and slow fermentation process. In addition, we propose seasonal fruit, ice-creams and yoghurts (using the starter) at km 0.
The bed and breakfast offer consists of two independent studios (independent of house too) with French-windows each with its own toilet and mosquito webs.
Each studio measures 20 square metres (each bathroom 3 square metres) and hosts 3 guests (double bed with bunk beds)+ 1 with a folding bed to be added. The rooms have sea-view and South exposure, hot in winter and cool in summer, with independent heating system guaranteed by a 1.80 meters high radiator.
Bedrooms and breakfast room are also accessible to disabled in a wheelchair (not very serious disability) by a wooden mobile platform. In the toilet the distance from the wheelchair to the bathroom fixtures is the following: to the washbasin 30 cm, to the WC 60 cm, to the bidet 90 cm, to the shower 130 cm (no bathtub).
Rates are on a daily basis including overnight stay and breakfast (continental or Italian):
High season (17/07 - 30/08):€ 70 per day double room – € 60 single room use - € 100 triple room (€ 20 fourth bed added). Central week of August € 80 per day double room.
Low season (the rest of the year): € 60 per day double room - € 45 single room use - € 85 triple room (€ 15 fourth bed added).
Besides, if you like you can eat with us products from our land depending on seasonal availabilities. Our home kitchen uses only what our farm offers paying attention to natural cooking, balanced diet and vegetarian, vegan, fructarian and raw food diets.
A special passion of ours is Neapolitan pizza following the procedural guideline PDO and dressed with organic products at km 0 with slow fermentation of dough. In particular, we care different types of bread, e.g. pizzas, flat breads, biscuits baked in our eco wood-oven made using natural materials, without concrete and respecting Cilentan technique.
For long stays there are discounts apart from the central weeks in August. Check-in 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., check-out until 10.30 a.m.. Breakfast 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. Cleaning 10.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.. Towels and bed linen on demand.

We are partners of the national sustainable tourism Equotube member of Aitr (Italian Association Responsible Tourism) and partners of the association of responsible tourism SlowTourism. Moreover, we received the quality certification of sustainable building (4 out of 5 leaves) from the international organization Five-Leaf System. Recommended by Tripadvisor (5 out of 5 stars) with 'Certification of Excellence' years 2014 and 2015. We have been revewed by Altreconomia in the first Guide to rural hospitality in Italy "Dormire nell'orto" and farm host in the international network of volunteer AFSAI.
